In this text of intermediate-level problems, South is always the declarer. Most of the time you will be playing the hand but sometimes you will be defending.

The bidding is fairly standard and will be not too different from what you learned. But the auction will be explained to help reinforce your understanding of some common methods.

The deals are taken mainly from Tina's many years as a teacher for her state association and often based on the texts of such great writers as Eddie Kantar and Ron Klinger as well as articles in British and American bridge magazines.

You will find the problems are a little more difficult than the hands you encountered in beginners' lessons. But that's the aim - new territory to conquer... Enjoy!
