Club level players tend to make the same mistakes over and over again. In this book David Bird discusses the most frequent 52 mistakes he comes across - mistakes in bidding, in the play and in defense. The section on each mistake contains several deals where the person playing the hand went wrong. Each chapter is summarises with some tips and hopefully you will avoid making similar errors yourself.
The first section is called Mistakes in the Bidding and uses real hands from high-level tournaments. While the cardplay and the defense by top players are usually excellent, it's amazing how these experts surprise us with bids that seems to be clear mistakes. Experts make these errors much less often than we do and you will find it instructive to look at these off beat decisions. Try to analyse why the bid was a mistake before you reading Bird's commentary. When it comes to card play, expert mistakes are even rarer but David Bird has constructed deals to illustrate his points.
